Caravan Raiders

Post by Bob-Kyle on Sat Apr 24, 2010 10:21 am

The day was still new, but the sun burned with such intensity that one may think they were back in the Gerudo Valley. Across the field--the Holod field rested a group of wagons in the shade under a myriad of fruit trees.

Near the city gate was the old man who had posted the note for help. He looked at the three people who had agreed to help
him, and cursed his luck at the sight of the three.

Doggonet! How are you three supposed to help me? You barely look like you can take down one of these Subrosians, much less a group of them!

The man pointed at the wagon closest to the group conversing under the towering walls of the fortress-city. Dangling from the driver's seat was a necklace. Upon further analysis of the group that controlled the caravan, they were small impish beings with green cloaks on covering their bodies so that only shadows of their faces were visible...assuming there were faces under the cloak.

Well!? What're you waiting for!? Go get them!

Quest Participants:
Dao, Quint, Maximus. (Two more can join, if interested.)

Everyone just looked on at the caravan, assumingly thinking of a plan of
what to do.

"You know, the
Subrozans...Sudsrazins? Whatever they are, may have stole the neckelace,
but that doesn't mean they should be killed...So I suggest we plan a
way to get it without killing any of them?"
Lilah suggested,
as Quint simply stood there, looking as if he was daydreaming.

"Maim..."

Hob looked
towards Quint for a moment and thought he noticed something odd, but
instead shrugged and planted himself on Lilahs shoulder.

"Could just get Rocky there to distract
them, while either Dao or Quint nab the neckelace?"

Hob suggested, abiding to Lilahs wish for none of them to be slain.

"...Kill..."

Hob knew
he heard something in Quints head now...But what? He just continued to
stand there, glazed eyes as if he was staring into the distance.

"Quint what do you think?" Lilah
asked.

"...Burn!"

"Quint? Yoohoo? You awake?" Lilah
asked again, trying to catch his attention.

Quint shook his head a
little and focused on the wagons passing them by. His eyes seemed ot
flash blue for a moment...

"Personally,
I think we should make this far easier and burn their wagons down..."

Quint spoke in a cold tone, lifting his arm, as if he was readying to
throw a rock, "Besides. He never said
how he wanted his precious neckelace back, so it won't matter if we give
it back in a molten glob!"

Suddenly his raised hand
lit up in flames, as he began to bring his arm forwards to throw the
ball of fire...Only to be stopped by Lilah, who pushed his arm away
causing the fireball to be hurled into the path, doing little but making
a scorched mark on the ground. Quint swiftly turned to face her.

"Quint-!?" Lilah was about to shout
at him for nearly burning the wagons down but was thrown back at the
sight of his eyes. She didn't see in them, the lonesome man with issues
she knew...But a cold evil hatred in them...

Quint shook his head
again, and took a step back, looking at his hand, confused.

"I...Erm...I'm sorry. I don't know what came
over me there..."
Quint said, as he looked at everybody
else. "Err...So...What about you guys?
Any ideas?"

"Hmmm..."

Maximus pondered this question a bit. A war...
without killing. He wondered if such a wondrous thing were possible.
Maybe then War wouldn't be considered so manful.

But it wasn't.
Maybe... Maximus considered the situation a little more. And then, with
the magic of the roc's feather propelling him, he took a mightly leap.
He soared through the air, and as he fell toward his mark, he let out a
deep bellow.

"CAAAAANNNNOOOOOON
BAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!"

The
driver of the wagon looked up, and at once his eyes became as wide as
dinner plates. And then he yelled an oath as artful as any Maximus had
ever heard, and 20 or so people ran out of the wagon. Maximus had hoped
they would, too, but instead he landed right next to one, and ripped off
one of its back wheals.

"You
guys think too much!"
He yelled to
his compatriots as they neared.

Re: Caravan Raiders

Post by Bob-Kyle on Sat Apr 24, 2010 10:21 am

Quint furrowed his brows and looked at Lilah.
"I simply have the urge to burn them a little, and you
nearly kill me yourself. But yet, if Rocky jumps and smashs an entire
wagon, you watch in awe?"

Quint grabbed the handle of
Genesis and unsheathed it as he started towards the caravan and began to
yell.

"Agreed Goron! But how
about a challenge? Grab some rope. First to knock out ten of these
bastards wins! Plus that way Lilah won't have my head! Ha ha!

Quint shouted, high in spirit as if nothing had happened a moment ago.

Charging
towards a wagon still on the move, he abided with Lilahs wish and
tackled instead of stabbing one of the Subrosians. On top of the cloaked
humanoid, he knocked him out with a swift blow to the head and tied his
hands up with some shreds of his cloak. The driver had noticed this,
and had stopped so the group in control of the wagon could all focus on
the Gerudo who had put one of their brethran out cold.

Getting
back on his feet, he began moving side to side to hold his stance, ready
for the three Subrosians coming towards him.

"Well then! Let us dance!" Quint said, as he
took a bow and sheathed Genesis. The Subrosians stopped and exchanged
glances for a moment, and began walking towards Quint once again.

Grinning,
he dodged sword blow from a Subrosian to his right, and grabbed his
wrist, twisting it round untill the Subrosian could take no more and
dropped his blade, to then take three blows to the head from clenched
Gerudo fist. Wary, the other two stopped again. One behind, one in
front.

Cocky, the one behind thought he had the advantage
of...Well...being behind him, so went to grab Quint in a headlock, only
to have his arm grabbed and then pulled over the Half-Bloods shoulder
and land on his back in the dirt with a swift kick to his chest.

After
the three others that were on the wagon now incapacitated, the last
turned tail and ran, though stupidly enough, into the back of the wagon.
Quint obviously chased him in, backing him into a corner of the small
wagon, shielding his face with his arms. Quint was about to grab hold of
Genesis and smack him on the head with the hilt, however the Subrosian
was sttutering something, slowly pulling his arms down from his face.

"W-wait! I...I recognize y-you!"
the Subrosian stuttered. Quint cocked his head and raised an eyebrow in
confusion.

"Y-yes! Your the g-guy
who told us about t-that ship!"

...Quints grin slowly
turned to a face of shock. The Subrosian was speaking the truth...He
might tell the others...But how could he silence him?

Kill him of course...It's the only way they'l
never find out...

Quint considered it, but held
his ground. The Subrosian simply didn't move, watching Quint, who looked
like he was in deep thought, looking into the distance.

"Quint...I can hear him...In your head..."

If
it wasn't bad enough there was two in the Gerudoes head, now Hob had
joined the chat.

"They...Must...Not
know..."
Quint mumbled, not directly to the Subrosian but to
as if he was talking to himself.

"Quint..."
Hobs voice resounded in his head again, sounding concerned...

Do it...It's the only way...

"I thought we destroyed him...?
Quint...What's going on?"

Quint shook his head, as
if he were attempting to throw all the thoughts out of his head. He
took a couple steps towards the Subrosian. He clasped a hand over the
cloaked beings mouth, and thrust the blade through his chest.

"...You must be silenced..."
Quint whispered then into the Subrosians ear, as the light slowly left
his eyes.

Acting normal and high spirited again, he hopped out
and went ot the front of the wagon to see if the neckalace was there.
Unfortuantly, it was not on the wagon Quint had assaulted. He turned
towards the others and cupped his hands around his mouth.

"Hey Rocky, Hyrulian! It's either on the smashed wagon
you're on Goron or in that other one! This ones clean!"

"Okay... why were we
doing this?"

This might have
have been the easiest money Maximus had ever made. The wagoners didn't
really put up resistance, and Maximus was ill inclined to try to
actually hurt them. This might have been almost leisurely, until Quint
reminded him why he was here.

"Right,
the jewelery."

Of course,
blockhead.

"Well, you can
thank Captain Obvious over there for pointing that out. Geez, its either
in that one or the other one, cause it ain't in this one. He must have
studied hard to figure that one out."

The wagon didn't have any thing valuable. Not even any rupees.
Only ore chunks. Those weren't even good enough to salt his Rock
Brisket. However, there was an interesting book he decided to take; A
History of Holodrome.
It was better than nothing. He stuck his head
out of the wagon and signaled that there was nothing here.

"I may need glasses, but from what I can see, Rocky ain't found that neckelace..." Quint whispered to himself, hands on hips as he looked towards the man who had hired them, who, for some strange reason was shouting something Quint could not hear, pointing at the wagon at the front of the caravan. Then it suddenly occured to Quint...

When they had got here, the man had pointed to the front of the wagon leading the caravan where clear as day was the neckelace hanging from the drivers seat.

Quint brushed his hair back as he cursed under his breath. How did they not remember?

The wagon was still on the move and was the last of the caravan. And to no surprise, it was moving as fast as the animals pulling it could run, meaning retreiving the neckelace would prove annoying.

Quint began to sprint after the caravan, forgetting to beckon the attention of the Goron in order to help him. Quint was athletic, but it was obvious he wasn't oing to catch up. he had an diea, but it risked killing one of the Subrosions on board, and Lilah certainly wouldn't like that...Wait...Since when did he start doing what she said? Whatever.

Quint decided to take the risk anyway. His hand began to light up aflame, swinging his arm releasing a ball of fire aiming for the wagons rear left wheel...Annnndd...SUCCESS!

It hit the wheel dead on, smashing it apart, however not stopping the wagon, altohugh it did slow it down, just enough for Quint to catch up...Eventually.

Sprinting as fast as he could, Quint made a jump for it, grabbing on to the back of the wagon's cargohold, hanging on tight.

Now...he just had to get himself up...

"He did?"

Of course he did. You just weren't paying attention. Shut up. Quint just wanted to palm this guy off on me. You don't always have to be so nice. You don't always have to be so sarcastic! Blockhead! Jerk!

At this moment, Maximus realized he hadn't really given the Holod a real answer.

"Yeah, come on."

"First, we have to help Quint. He looks like hes gonna be as flat as a piece of paper in a second."

He pulled out his hatchet, and threw it as hard he could. It hit the wagons back wheel and buried itself into it. He heard Quint cursing at him, but the wagon halted as the handle dug into the ground, creating drag.

"That, young sir, is how you stop a wagon."

"You cannot do this by yourself Gerudo...You...As always...Need me...Hmph..."

"No! SHUT UP! Been fine all my life without you, heck, I even managed to get myself out of that trouble I was in with Iceheart and Maximus. And what about Rook? Didn't need you then, I don't need you now!"

Helshezag guffawed with laughter within Quints head as he finished speaking.

"FINE? It was my powers you used to take revenge on Rook! And how about Naraku? He not only nearly beat you to death, he killed your whle family save your cousin and son....And yet...Had you gave in to my power again...You might have prevented that...So I say again. Give in. And let ME handle this."

"...I...No..."

--------------

Suddenly Quint opened his eyes, to see a Subrosion about to run him through with a blade. However the moment Quint had woke up, the Subrosion froze, screamed and then ran for his very life.

"Wha?- ARGH" Quint went to hold his head as he felt a sharp pain. Bringing his hand down to his face, he saw he was bleeding badly. And to add to that his arm was in bad shape as well...

"Yes Goron...Lets help me by bringing the wagon to a full stop cuasing me to keep moving into it..." Quint mumbled as he got himself up. Turning round, he saw there were still two Surosions left, however they it seemed they had not been injured by the sudden brake as he did. And from the angry glares he felt coming from their hooded faces, these two weren't going to run away like the other Subrosion.

Two vs one...And the one was not in a good state. Glancing round to see how far Maximus was- Wait, who is that? Nevermind. Either way, the Goron was still a minute or so away.

"Who's up for a game of dodge the freaky looking hooded guys?"

Re: Caravan Raiders

Post by Brutticus Force on Fri Aug 06, 2010 12:15 am

Maximus popped a bomb into his mouth. He couldn't find the new guy anywhere. Just as well. He surveyed the carnage. It seemed like an awful large amount for a goddamned necklace. One, mind you, we haven't found. As he slowly and thoughtfully chewed the bomb, he tried to think of a place where the necklace might be.

"Quint's being no help. As usual. What is he doing?" He's developing his character for the next arc. "Pardon?" He's being emo. "Yeah, but is he doing?" I haven't the foggiest. Maybe if you paid attention, you wouldn't miss everything. "Maybe I wouldn't... miss... everything..."

And then, the reason the necklace hadn't been found was because it wasn't here. This whole thing had been a red herring... but what exactly was it supposed to accomplish?

As if to answer Maximus, he spied a group of men on horses on the hill in the distance. He stood up, and squinted to try and get a better view. He found his sight, while good for a Goron, was too poor for this.

"Hey, goro!" he bellowed to his comrades. "Who are they?"

Before anyone had the chance to enter, the men began to surge forward. As they got closer,Their shape became larger and more ominous. There must have been around 30 of them, perhaps on horse back, armed with spears! Maximus jumped out of their way, but he recognized the man in the front! He had sent them on this quest! He had hired them to trash a random caravan! And to kill innocent people! As if to underscore his treachery, his horsemen began to attack both the adventurers and any stragglers.

(OOC: I read through the quest and saw we hadn't actually found the necklace. So heres a nice deviation from the standard raid the caravan plot. PS: This is meant to be endgame. This quest has been active for too long. however, if anyone has anyother ideas, id be glad to hear them)

We have trouble Quint. Get back to Max. Now. Hob said within Quints head. he had easily handled the two Subrosions that were going to double team him despite his injuries so thus he took to looking for the neckelace in the remains of the wagon, however it was not to be found. Looking towards Max, he saw that Lilah and Hob had ran up to him ready to confront a few horsemen...Wait...isn't that the guy who had them go on this quest?

Although slow due to his injuries, Quint ran as fast as he could to join up with them. Form what he coudl see, the group were talking amongst themselves until one, holding a bow, aimed at Quint. Seeing this, he unsheathed Genesis again, knowing now was not the time to be abiding by Lilahs wishes of not killing anyone and prepared to strike the arrow from the air before it could hit him.

Running with sword in hand, the arrow made a whistling sound as it was let loose and was homing in on the Half-Blood, however when he attempted to parry it, he failed. Now not only did he have a head wound, an injured arm and a cut on his leg but now he had an arrow poking through his right shoulder.

"Quint!!" Lilah screamed as she ran to get meet him, the archer who had fired seemed to have no intention to fire more as he could see that Quint shouldn't be much of a problem now.

"Are you oka- Quint...What happened to your eyes?" Lilah asked in surprise as she stared intently at Quints now dark blue eyes.

"Nothing..Don't worry about it..."
Quint replied in pain as he pulled the arrow out of his shoulder.

"Rocky! What is going on?!" Quint said to Max when the pair had reunited with the Goron and Hob.

Re: Caravan Raiders

Post by Brutticus Force on Sun Aug 15, 2010 5:03 pm

"I think we've bee tricked! The real bad guys just joined the party!"

Maximus threw a fireball at a rider trying to spear a fleeing subrosian. The force caused the man to fly off his horse and hit the ground. He started thrashing around, and managed to put the fire out before he lay down and just quit. A group of riders converged on him. He began to swat at them with his hands. They began to poke him with their spears.

He lifted up one man off of his horse and threw him, as he attempted to ride away. The rest made it and rode out. Maximus curled up and began to roll after him. Some arrows struck him, and although they didn't pierce his rock hard back, they did embed themselves in his shell, causing him to lose control. He uncurled before he got too far and landed by the rear wheel of the wagon. He pulled his hatchet out of it, and got to his feet, chopping a spear point he went.

A huge entourage came forward, perhaps nine or ten people, As they got closer to Maximus, he was able to make out the man who hired them to raid the caravan lead them. He carried a bow and a spear.

"You have proven yourself extraordinarily tough. Maybe your entourage would consider joining my band? I wouldn't have to kill such fine warriors, that is for sure."

"What is your name?"

"You would have the privilege of serving Gordon Graver, the most clever bandit prince that ever lived."

"Well, your highness..."

Maximus surged forward, propelled by the pegasus boots, knocking the two frontmost horsemen aside. He grabbed the bandit prince by his face. Before anyone could react, he crushed his head like an overripe melon. He threw the headless corpse at the men, and gave them an angry grimace. They scattered, and Maximus didn't go after them. He picked up Dao, and sat down next to Quint and Lilah.

"There's only only one person in this world I listen to, and that's me."

He turned to Quint.

"Maybe we should get Vess to look at you."

With Lilah helping him along Quint holed towards Maximus.

"Not one for...Talking it out...Are you Rocky? Heh..." Quint said, a tad surprised at how the Goron had solved the whole bandit issue.

"But yeah, suppose we're done here. Best we head back. Argh...This smarts..."
He cringed in pain, as he began holing back towards Horon.
